Reflections

(This piece is satire) It's simple, women want a partner who's: tall/dark/handsome; professional/rich/successful; a gentleman who loves their kids like his own; who has no checkered past; has no physical or mental illnesses or addictions; and isn't a pushover; a snuggler they share great chemistry with who's a great lover but who follows the dating rules (not showing too much interest at first and isn't clingy); who's honest and sincere and expresses their emotions but is virile/manly/macho; someone who listens, and a great conversationalist who makes them laugh, sweeps them off their feet and takes them on trips yet knows when they need space and has plenty of wholesome hobbies during those times; Their friends are fun without drama and they're a best friend, and when need be a great counselor. A winner with a great attitude who exudes stability and confidence with all who meet them wanting to work with them or be their pal. He only has eyes for her but isn't overbearing and cramping her style. Together as a couple they challenge each other to grow and develop and move forward; they can appreciate downtime that's relaxed but not boring with the same routines. He cooks, cleans, shops, fixes things and anticipates her and their needs. Politically aware, well read and traveled with great taste in fashion and music, yet not effeminate or set in his ways nor argumentative.

Since my breakup three years ago... even with CFS, somehow I've managed to go on ten dates. Somewhere along the line I pissed cupid off:

Getting picked up at a restaurant (yay!), only to find out they were just looking for a therapist

5 dates with a lovely lady (yay!), only to find out that they weren't dates (only I thought they were dates)

A one night stand (yay!), only nothing happened.

Met a great gal at a bar (yay!), and though we clicked, cancels third date without explanation

A lover from long ago calls me (yay!) only to say we can't be lovers

it's not like I'm kissing on dates. Sometimes I think if it weren't for CFS, or perhaps if I wasn't odd (or even if I was a bad tough type?), it would go better. This is not a plea post though, haha I'm posting this for humor, Thnks
